It
takes a lot of people to make a project
like this work. Mr. Ness
could never do it alone. Through some
interesting circumstances, some
wonderful people became involved with
this playground project- people who
would have never thought they'd be
traveling to places like Tobago, Belize and St
Lucia to reassemble playgrounds.
As
Mr Ness tried to figure out how he was
going to get a playground, he was told
this was an impossible task because the playground would cost
a lot of money and the trip fee
would be a lot of money, but he never
gave up. Then one day he got a
phone call from Mr. Gary Debney from CDC
Recreation, offering him a
playground for free- this was the start of a
miracle. After finding a container and some
further help, he was off to Tobago!
To his surprise, Mr. Debney, an expert
playground builder, offered to send a
couple of playground inspectors along to
ensure the playground got built
properly. This was an incredible
offer since Mr. Ness had never built a
playground before. This brought several
leaders together, Wayne Baptist from the
City of Calgary and Ray Hauck from the
Calgary Board of Education. Their wives
have joined the teams as well, helping
Mr. Ness' wife Gloria Ness with the
cooking.
Ms. Susan Malkinson, a high school math
teacher at Master's Academy and College,
supervises the students and works
alongside them in the building. The high school students
are heavily involved in the work project
and help the leaders get things
done.
Without
all of these leaders Mr. Ness would have
never succeeded in his
dream.
