As if building playgrounds are not
enough, these amazing people also
decided to bring some bikes down to
these locations as well. These bikes are
in good shape and even though they are
not much by North American standards, they mean an awful lot to the
people from the places that the team takes
them. This year, thirty-six bikes are going
down to Belize,
both children and adult sizes, donated by
the City of
Calgary Police department, Bow Cycle and
the Bike Shop. Some of the bikes are
bikes recovered by the police and never claimed.
Both bike stores donated their
time to upgrade and fix the bikes. These
bikes have to go down in the huge containers
that the playgrounds
travel down in.
These
bikes mean so much to the people of
other countries. Despite the fact that
they can only carry one person they are
still an excellent form of
transportation. These bikes also show
the people that they are not forgotten
in the world. The people in these
underdeveloped nations are quite often
forgotten by the bigger more noticeable
nations. For the country to grow and
advance with other countries they have
to be noticed so that they could do some
trading and receive help from other
countries. With the help of this team
and these small gifts the country can
grow in great ways and excel in better
ways than ever before.
